Geewa School of Environmental Management provides an extensive Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician course which is suitable for those who want to work in the water and wastewater industry. The program is a perfect mix of theory and practical work, thus, the trainees receive a comprehensive experiential learning and become fully employable. The students will understand in-depth the nature of wastewater, the pollutants in it and how these factors impact the different treatment operations.
During the course, students will be exposed to various methods of treatment used in the contemporary wastewater plants such as physical, chemical and biological processes. They will be taught the processes individually, and the most important thing, how these processes are combined to achieve current and future effluent discharge standards. Hands-on practical demonstrations take place simultaneously for students to understand thoroughly and get acquainted with the purification stages that subsequently give them the confidence to work in the real world.
After finishing the course, students will be competent to perform wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance. The training will include various operations such as operating and cleaning different types of valves, managing aeration systems efficiently, charging slurry tanks, and adding chemicals and microbes in the right way during the treatment stage. Additionally, the students will be trained in the calibration of the performance monitoring of process control instruments to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the plant.

These reasons has made the adoption of anaerobic digesters widely for the wastewater and waste treatment sectors. Therefore, the demand for anaerobic digester operators is expected to continue to rise in the coming years. As the need for renewable energy, waste management, and sustainable practices increases, there will be a growing requirement for skilled professionals who can operate and maintain anaerobic digesters efficiently.

Environment Impact Assessment or EIA is the study to predict the effect of a proposed activity/project on the environment. EIA systematically examines both beneficial and adverse consequences of the project and ensures that these effects are taken into account during project design. It helps to identify possible environmental effects of the proposed project, proposes measures to mitigate adverse effects and predicts whether there will be significant adverse environmental effects, even after the mitigation is implemented. By considering the environmental effects of the project and their mitigation early in the project planning cycle, environmental assessment has many benefits, such as protection of environment, optimum utilisation of resources and saving of time and cost of the project.
